http://collegesportsblog.dallasnews.com ... -stad.htmlThe TCU Horned Frogs have released their 2010 non-conference schedule, which will open with a Sept. 4 game against Oregon State at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. The game will be televised by ESPN. TCU will host Baylor on Sept. 18. Also on the slate is a Friday, Sept. 24, game at SMU. ESPN will carry that game as well.

We better have a GREAT year, because we have been totally left in the dust by TCU, and conference change is right around the corner.
I hope everyone who was drinking the kool-aid back in the Cavan/Bennett years is happy. We've wasted so much time.

Yep. Frogs cannot 1) Sell out their 44,000 seat stadium in the first place...unless the game is hyped up for no reason (see Utah game last year) and 2) draw local interest (Oregon State has a very small local following), so it makes no sense to play this in Cowboys Stadium.

I do not understand your #1 point. They cannot sell out their stadium unless the game is hyped for no reason? Isn't filling up the stadium a good reason to hype the game?

The game is a road game for TCU. Yes, Oregon State is the home team in Arlington. Still think the Frogs are stupid?

Of course. 1) They voluntarily went to TCU. 2) They went to TCU knowing that it's located in Fort Worthless. 3) They support a team called the f*@#ing Horned Frogs. 4) They support a team whose mascot looks like the illegitimate lovechild of a salamander and a washing machine.
I really shouldn't drink and type.

They can't sellout the stadium unless the game is built up with artificial hype...hype that only comes around once every 5 years or so. In the case I pointed out, it was due to selling people on believing that Utah was better than they were, as well as introducing hideous new uniforms. Even with that, the crowd would have never filled Ford Stadium.

Yes. But not as stupid as Oregon State.

But surely you understand that filling the stadium is reason enough for the hype? I just do not see how you can say that game was hyped for no reason.

Yes and perhaps I worded what I meant wrong...more like hyped without substance for the hype.

It obviously had nothing to do with the fact that TCU was the #4 team in the country at the time, chasing their first BCS bid, chasing a spot in the national championship game (if everything fell right), having ESPN College Gameday in town (despite not be contracted with ESPN as a broadcast partner), and hosting the highest ranked matchup of the week. Yeah it was all artificial hype over Utah and new uniforms.

No, what's stupid is turning down an offer a large payout from ESPN and Jerry to play in one of the premier games on opening weekend and turning down the opportunity to play all 4 OOC games in the Metroplex. The ultra small time thinking continues on the Hilltop.............
