Ricky Collins Status Update

Postby Texasscout96 » Mon Apr 05, 2010 9:26 am

Does anyone have news on Ricky Collins' status?

Is he still planning on playing with us in 2010 or is he headed to Kilgore JC?

I know there was some question regarding his SAT score.

Thanks.

Last I heard, he had taken the test but didn't have his score back yet.
Longshot, I guess, but got my fingers crossed.

He is still on the Kilgore JC fall semester roster as of Thursday, so maybe next year for us. One of the JT coaches is a neighbor of mine in Tyler so without saying anything official, "maybe next year", but hopefully he will be a Mustang sooner than later. That's what I know and I'm sticking to it.

If he doesn't qualify it will be 2 years if at all

That is why it is so important to get to these kids early to not overlook the educational part of high school and to get them help early rather than just passing them up through the years and just using them for their athletic talents.......like so many colleges do. I admire those high schools and coaches who go the extra mile to inform the parents and students early on about the importance of the grades and sat/act scores. I believe I read where Cedar Hill had more than 20 of their seniors sign LOI. Fantastic. So many coaches have the attitude that "it's not my job, I am underpaid as it is."
