WOW. 60 million for a high school football stadium. We built a 15,000 seat stadium here in Midland 10 years ago and it cost 18 million. I thought that was a lot of money. At the time, it was the best H.S. stadium in American. Now, it is just another HS stadium, though it is still nice.

Very impressive.
I don't mean to sound like countless other PF threads, but why is the band sitting so far away from the student section?

smusic 00,
I have been told the band has around 600 members. If the band is really that big, they could be seated in the next county and you probably could still hear them clearly.

They take up a good chunk of real estate when they play at Ford.

Allen's stadium will cost more than Ford/Lloyd did. Crazy.

I wonder what the reasoning is for one large high school compared to a couple of 4A which could grow to 5A. Seems like more kids could participate in some of the extracurricular activities. Sure there are 600 kids in the band but how many kids actually play on the varsity football, basketball, baseball, softball etc(not sit on the bench). Is bigger better? Converse Judson did the same thing as far as one high school years ago so they could win championships albeit at the expense of more kids getting to experience varsity activities.

And they just recently split the high school. Converse now has Judson and Wagner Highs.

As an Allen resident (and AISD taxpayer), I'm pi$$ed to say the least about this. Spending that much for ONE high school on a football stadium is obscene.
The district should be embarrassed.

Allen has only one school because it is totally developed out. It has only about 1/4 the land compared to Mckinney or Frisco.
You are right not much chance for kids to play sports. Even though I grew up in Allen I moved to Fairview, my son goes to Lovejoy ISD, it won't get above 4A he can play multiple sports. Lovejoy will be similar to Allen when I was there in the 80's.
