you'll see it on here soon so don't think I'm starting something but Bennett says he no longer wants play TCU if they go to MWC according to a Calvin Watkins story by the DMN. Plans to isolate TCU for recruiting purposes I'm sure.

That is probably okay with TCU as they don't seem to really want to keep playing the worst team in Divsion 1. It really is not much of a rivalry when they kick our [deleted] every year.

No that what makes it BITTER!!!!!!-what you are seeing from TCU is the anger from a lifetime of Buttkicks administered by SMU. Will SMU have the will to do what is necessary to respond. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

While we certainly haven't been as successful as we'd like, and the less said about our performance this year, even recently there have been times where we have been the better program than TCU. And a day will come (hopefully) sooner or later where the wheel will turn again. The Iron Skillet has been good for both teams. However, perhaps it is getting too bitter to continue. However, if they are in the MWC, they will lament the loss of a close game both competatively and geographically. I do understand their desire to stay on top, but they will have to face reality at some point. The question is, will they have burned too many bridges by then?

From my standpoint, I enjoy the TCU basketball rivalry and like kicking their [deleted] which hopefully will happen next year. Bennett is an idiot for saying this IMO - totally stupid.

Conspicuously absent from the past week’s “TCU to MWC” threads are our friends from North Texas.

Perhaps no school’s fate rest in the balance of the Frog-MWC decision than the Mean Green, who would likely end up in the WAC if TCU stays in CUSA, and could end up without a conference (an open invitation to Division 1AA) if TCU was to leave.

When Benson announced the expansion of Utah State and New Mexico State, his words clearly communicated that UNT’s opportunity hinged largely on Louisiana Tech needing a travel partner.

As for SMU v. TCU… as long as SMU can play two former SWC schools in non-conference annually, I could care less who they are. Baylor and TCU would be nice, but I’d take any of the six.

"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is SMU.

I completely agree with Bennett. If they want out of Texas and a regional conference, then fine. Don't give them an easy travel game across town. We certainly won't need another nearby non-conference team on the schedule. We have been able to schedule Tech, Baylor, Okie State, plus now Rice, Tulsa, Tulane, and Houston in conference. Who needs TCU on the schedule too? They want a divorce. They can have it. I say let them lie in the bed they are making if they let their hubris and wishful thinking prevail over logic. They clearly think they have a stronger bargaining position in this conference shake up than they actually do.

All this mess just makes the rivalry better. If the choice is between keeping Bennett, and playing the froggies, I'd say drop Bennett!

I lOVE IT - STALLION!!!

you're right though & the tide will turn again b/c once we get it in gear, we'll drag them thru the mud again & THEY KNOW IT!!! (providing they play us - of course)

we've been very considerate of them more than once dragging them along to the wac & then again for c-usa which we lost out to them - always as a package protecting their %^$$#!

anyways - good for bennett & GO LOUISVILLE!

The bitterer, the betterer the RIVALRY. Methinks
Bennett took a step towards getting the boot from
Copeland from the DMN article saying that he was surprised at Bennett's remark.

Also read in the DMN this morning that Turner was frustrated with all our losses, but was still supporting Bennett. That kinda sounds like a "kiss of death".

It mentioned something about 3 recruiting years telling the tale, so the PRESSURE is on for next year.

don't be so negative 'plano'...

for all we know copeland said it mockingly, agreeably or whatever...the way it's written it could almost mean anything...even jokingly...hell, half the stories in the newspapers are lies anyways......

comments like your's & others on this board make recruits really want to come to the hilltop...don't they?

have u even thought who would take bennett's job in the first place plus what it would do recruiting wise with 'another' coach on the scene - the competition (tcu) would eat it up...

let's support bennet, he's got an almost impossible job that just got a little easier with this conference upgrade - YES - IT WAS AN UPGRADE!!!

even if tcu leaves, theres no telling what c-usa can still become become, especially if the bcs-bs is thrown out the window....

don't be so negative...bennett has to build a football program much like building a business from scratch & it ain't easy, there's a lot hit & misses with no clear answers & that's part of life...

as for his comment - good for him for showing some spark!
