Texas Tech-East Side Expansion

getting pretty close to completion-that should boost attendance somewhat for the opener.
Really except for the brick color and southwestern influence it looks pretty darn close to Ford Stadium especially at ground level and from a side profile. The problem with Jones which they didn't fix is that it has a very low degree slope which can put you very far from the field of play the higher you get. Ford has much better sitelines

sure looks better than before. How many people will the stadium fit now? It seems like they only fill the stadium for the Texas game and the occasional big night game every other year. Hope they didn't expand too much

if the south end were enclosed, I think it adds 10,000 so that's basically 43,000ish. After that, I think you'd be making some drastic changes, i.e., demo and rebuilding. Of course, since we own everything to the east, then room's no longer a problem there so I guess we just redo the east side in 2025 when we're a powerhouse

That's a nice enough stadium, but that statue of the masked equestrian hom*s*xu*l is likely offensive to some and the NCAA should demand that it be removed immediately.

I believe the expansion plans include, after the south endzone, a deck on the east side.

I thought we couldn't do that due to the zoning restrictions of the Park Cities.

If and when this happens, the plans call for the top of the east deck, to not surpass the top of the pressbox side. Pony Up!

if and when it does, we should enclose the south endzone, then encircle the whole place w/ club/enclosed seating, not unlike lambeau

That side of the stadium can be extended up to the height of the press box. The stadium has its own zoning designation and the height of the press box is at the top of its allowable height.

so what would capacity be with the south side completed and a deck on the east side? Gotta be above 50,000

It would be 45,000 with the south side completed. Not sure what the east side deck would add. It's possible they add a deck on the east that wraps around the north and south sides as well, which would add more seats.

Gotta believe the opener with Tech will sell out. New coach for first time in forever, stadium renovations, and first game of the season.

Should be 59k there you would think.

They will probably have to open the shed for more capacity. Standing room only of course.
