The SMU coaching staff would not need to find out about Jesse Williams from the Alabama staff...

Alabama staff also wouldn't tell the SMU staff about a good 2011 prospect until signing date or close thereto-why invite competition. I think he may be referring to a 2010 guy who Alabama has no room for, a late qualifier or someone with a late change of plans.
