Marcus Mason, signed off waivers in March, has yet to be on the field with the Chargers, so the competition for the No. 3 running back job is a ways from truly beginning. But keep your eyes on Shawnbrey McNeal out of SMU. He's an undrafted free agent who left school early to help support his ailing mother. He is small (5-9, 190) but he is quick (not fast) and powerful and can catch the ball.
