Shawnbrey McNeal caught a ball along the sideline, showed remarkable balance as his feet churned and he stayed in bounds, quickly spinning his body and running upfield all the way to the end zone.

There were no defenders near him, nothing to make the series of movements overly impressive. But the 5-foot-9, 190-pound running back did well on Friday in taking his first steps toward what, to him, is not just a dream but a necessity.
