Early C-USA Bowl Talk

Postby davidpaul123 » Tue May 11, 2010 4:04 pm

COUNT ON IT
SMU: Dare I say that SMU is back? The Mustangs will be young again, but I think coach June Jones has found something in quarterback Kyle Padron and the Mustangs will once again be in a bowl hunt. I think the ‘Stangs have the best chance to give Houston a run for the West Division.

With Padron in sophomore (slump) year, Sanders gone (have to develop new chemistry) etc.., I think the first 4 games will be rough - 0 or 1 win. From there, if we don't get too injured, we can accellerate and do well in conference. I predict at this (way too early) point we don't win the conference, but we do another bowl. Then we come out firing next year.

I disagree re: first 4 games (I'm thinking 2-2 but maybe 3-1 depending on how well Tech has gelled under Tuberville in that first game) but I think you're right that we are a year away from winning the conference.

College Football News Preview 2010 - Way Too Early Bowl Predictions:

December 18, 2010 New Orleans, LA
R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl 9:00 pm ESPN
Sun Belt No. 1 vs. C-USA No. 5
Way Too Early Projection: Middle Tennessee vs. SMU
WHY? Troy or Arkansas State could represent the Sun Belt, and throw a dart to find the Conference USA team that will end up here. This could be a blast of a game with plenty of offense.

It's not really a major accomplishment when you consider that we will be favored in home games against WSU and UAB.

UAB lost all-everything QB Joe Webb and WSU will be slightly better than last year, but so will we. And we won't give them the game, either.

dont worry JJ is gonna lay it on WSU this year... then he'll drop the knee if he has the ball last as time expires... everyone says its classy, lol, its a rub it in your face move because its saying i couldve scored but here ill show you mercy so you dont cry about it later..

Calallen,
I hope for a 3 -1 start but I think at best a 2 - 2 start. Could even be 1 - 3. I think our best chances are against Wash. St. and Navy. Hope I'm wrong and you never know what JJ has up his sleeve.

Our start is @ Texas Tech, UAB, WSU, and TCU. I'd agree on 1-3 or 2-2 at best if Navy was one of those games but we don't play them until October.

My bad. You are correct sir. I think 2 - 2 looks good. Forgot we play Navy later in the year.

Yeah. I don't know why we keep playing Navy in October but that's the way it's been working out.
