Boise to Mountain West RumorsHere is the obligatory denial by all parties. Seems to make too much sense not to be true. I think SMU would be a good fit in the Mountain.

Re: Boise to Mountain West RumorsMWC needs boise to get to the next level of being BCS eligble. its a no brainer.

Re: Boise to Mountain West RumorsIf the MWC adds Boise State, then MWC will try to add two more from the State of Texas to get to 12 and give TCU regional partners. This moves is contigent on the Big Ten only adding ND, which permits the Big XII to stay as it is. If Big XII loses MO, Nebr and Colorado, then MWC will have problems keeping UT, TCU, etc. and their options may result in a weaker conference, even if they take BSU.

Re: Boise to Mountain West RumorsIt'll be interesting to see if the Frogs continue to distance themselves from us during all this BS or begin to side with Houston as a partner.

For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Re: Boise to Mountain West RumorsDefensive move since UU is leaving. They would take Boise to get back to 9, not go to 10.
Re: Boise to Mountain West Rumors
Boise State's President has openly discussed contacting every MWC school every year to ask them to take Boise State. The facts are that the MWC has to invite Boise State within the next month or so if they want to count Boise State's record towards their BCS ranking for AQ status. Given how both sides would GREATLY benefit from coming together, and given how the WAC has *no* penalty clause for leaving (Boise State was one of the schools that refused to sign a "loyalty pledge" when the WAC's commissioner asked last year), consider Boise State a part of the MWC in 2011.
Re: Boise to Mountain West RumorsBoise replacement for Utah...now they have to hope BYU stays or the whole thing blows up
Re: Boise to Mountain West RumorsConsider the possibility of a merger between some of the Big 12 schools that
would likely be left behind and the MWC...plus one additional school from Texas.
Re: Boise to Mountain West RumorsI'd love to make the move, but we're kidding ourselves if we think they would want SMU over UH. Houston is in a much better position to make that move than we are right now.
Re: Boise to Mountain West Rumors
Facilities aside, you are correct.
Re: Boise to Mountain West Rumors
Hey FrogFace, who would you rather have in your conference, SMU or SDSU?
Re: Boise to Mountain West RumorsGood point Callenstang. But you have to realize who you're talking to. Sometimes our rival (& others) takes the "rivalry" too seriously & forgets about the dollar & cents of the issue.
I can imagine a lot of teams don't want SMU to return to 'dominence' & that is what the bcs-BS would allow. Where they have us now is where most would like us - particularly the shorthorns. BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!

Re: Boise to Mountain West RumorsI think the only reason, besides the steady football and BBall programs, the MWC takes Coog Hi, is because of the Houston TV market. I assume they think with TCU, they have the DFW TV market covered, so to speak.
GO MUSTANGS!
Re: Boise to Mountain West Rumors
I'm a frog fan and alum. Its a nice little pitty party you are having for yourself. The Frogs continue to distance themselves from us. Poor SMU! I want SMU to get an invite to the MWC, and I'm not that interested in partnering with Cougar High.

Wow! Can I come to your pity party? LOL! I think you're in the same boat as us big boy so don't get too over confident. LOL! BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
