SMU gear in the Old Town Tom Thumb

Postby High Horse » Sun May 30, 2010 4:22 pm

I look up from the check out lane and there's a big banner, "SMU Mustangs." Not a huge selection of shirts, hats, and other novelties but cannot recalll ever seeing stuff in the grocery before.

From time to time, the Mockingbird Kroger also has some SMU gear.

And don't forget the S.M.U. gear at the Sports Authority on Central and Lovers.

If you mean the SA on Central/Walnut Hill, I was in there the other day. Alright selection of SMU gear, but I would have loved to have seen more.

Great to see more and more SMU gear popping up around town. This morning I was at a car wash near Preston & Campbell and they had SMU chrome emblems for the back of your car. Also at the PGA store in Frisco today they had a few SMU golf shirts. Yesterday at Calloway's Nursery a guy saw my SMU specialized license plate and made a comment "ya'll are sure getting better, I may come out and see the Mustangs this year". Of course I tried to sell him on the Blvd too and encouraged him to come see some exciting June Jones high scoring football. Back just like three years ago a search on e-Bay under "SMU" would bring search results of maybe 5-8 pages, today that same search brings 26 pages. Things are changing.

Just looked it up and we were both wrong, it's off of Park Lane 8)

They usually have some SMU stuff (lawn chairs, etc) at the Bed Bath and Beyond on Park Lane as well, although I haven't been in there in at least the past 6 months so my information isn't current.

Yes, on Park Lane, decent gear at decent prices, we need to buy this

stuff or they won't carry it.

While walking the Katy Trail this morning, 4 people yelled "Pony Up" or "Go Mustangs" at me. Everyone was sporting their SMU football T's. There seems to be a growing vocal fan base. Forgot to tell you, I bought a door mat that looks like the Ford Stadium field at the Tom Thumb.

not sure how long that place will be there. If you pull out of the parking lot to the south, you see the new Park Lane palace w/ [deleted]'s Sporting goods etc.

And yeah, I was at that Sports Authority yesterday. I believe the stuff on the wall was, in order, Stars, Rangers, Horns, Horns, Horns, Mack Brown mural, Aggies, Horns, and two SMU t-shirts.

Glad that I've successfully trained my son, however. He ignored all of the other crap and said "dad do they have my size in those SMU shirts?"

It was a few months ago since I was in there, but they had a lot of Mustang shirts and caps.
