University of Houston running back Charles Sims had a team-leading nine rushing touchdowns as a freshman last season.

The NCAA has ruled Houston Cougars running back Charles Sims ineligible for the 2010 season, the university announced on Tuesday.

Sims, the 2009 Conference USA Freshman of the Year, will remain in school but cannot compete in any Games this season. Sims, a sophomore from Westbury, had 759 yards receiving and 698 rushing last season in helping the Cougars to a 10-4 record.

In a release issued by the university, UH coach Kevin Sumlin praised Sims for his attitude during the situation and expects him to have a positive impact on teammates. Citing privacy laws, Sumlin and university officials declined further comment.

Good news for the rest of the conference, I suppose.
I still wonder if we have any more folks who will be ineligible by the end of the summer school sessions.
