The Boise AD brags that the school will jump to the mountain west on June 7th. Funny that the MWC will be the first to pull the trigger.

funny how in a few short years, all of a sudden Boise State has name value. that would have been laughable 10 years ago. Might be laughable 10 years from now too, but shows you what taking a bunch of California kids who couldnt qualify academically for the Pac 10 will do for you.

by the way, I think that was the Idaho AD commenting about June 7th, dont think he was bragging, more like lamenting.

Agreed. BSU is a minor risk for the MWC. There recruiting classes compare unfavourably to the likes of SMU, TCU, Utah, BYU, and about 70 other colleges. I'm not bagging on them, because their coaches do a great job in development. How long will it last though, especially if they loose a coach or two? BSU is only a small risk for the MWC because even if they fall, they won't sink as deep as half the teams in the MWC including New Mexico, UNLV, SDSU, Colorado State or Wyoming.

The ESPN Dallas radio is stating that Boise will jump to the MWC when a formal invitation is presented. And that could be as early as today. No link, they have been stating this all afternoon.

Boise State to the MWC is going to make the MWC a serious candidate for the BCS, especially if the Big East loses a team or two.

bottom line is that this is no time for SMU to slide backwards. At a minimum, we need another 8-5 season including a bowl win. The gap between the haves and have nots may be widening soon.

C P, I agree with you absolutely. There could soon be major upheavals on the way in college football. I still believe though that last year for SMU was a little bit of an abberation and that 6-6 or 7-5 would be an accomplishment in 2010. We are still going to have to pay for the bumblings of the administration in past years.

It's about time Boise went to MWC. They are the real deal, and have been consistently so for several years. They have had no competition from the rest of the WAC, at least in football.

What happened to Boise State's poor academic reputation hindering a possible move to the MWC? Did I just imagine that?

If it results in them getting BCS status it will be a good move. There are still two years left in this evaluation if I understand it correctly. The problem I see is that this could reduce the odds of any of them getting into a BCS bowl the next two years because they will be beating up on each other. Will BSU start playing in the MWC immediately or is there a waiting period?

so the question is this...if Boise goes to the MWC, MWC becomes an AQ conference, do Utah and BYU stay put? MWC will be AQ with its own tv network

I think the odds BSU goes to a BCS game in any given year decreases if they join the MWC. They have a perfect situation the way they are now. WAC is not getting any better and BSU can go undefeated most years in conference and if they schedule OOC the right way they will always be in the hunt for a BCS bowl. In the MWC they will be playing TCU, UTAH, BYU, and AIR FORCE every year. Lots of chances to lose. That is if the MWC doesn't lose anyone. AQ status or not, less likely to go undefeated.

I still think Utah leaves...maybe BSU is their replacement...
