I find it interesting because he tends to think Nebraska and Kansas would not get a Big 10 invite. Has Nebraska seriously overplayed its hand in the last few months? Also, PAC is insisting that Texas give up on Bevo Network-that could be a stumbling block that could allow the Big 12 to survive.
Norm congratulates Chip on 'the story'. Chip says "thank you".
Chip: "According to multiple sources, the Pac10 is meeting today and plans to vote to invite 6 teams from the Big XII to join an eastern division with AzSt and Az. Both conferences have been talking for weeks about a non-conf schedule and they don't want to date anymore - they want to get married. Fox is a big player in this and they want to launch another conference network like the Big Ten. The window is much tighter for the Pac10 due to contract expiration. Pac10 needs to do something in the next 6 months...now.
Larry Scott and I talked 10 days ago. Larry confirmed that no schools would have the right to hold back content for a new Pac10 contract and that would be a bitter pill for ut to swallow.
A&M is in a hole - $15 million deficit in the athletics program. Mike Sligh of SEC said that A&M can come to our conference and keep its own PPV content. (I do not believe this for one minute.)
Texas is trying to hold the Big XII together. (I do not believe this for one minute.)
Talks about Kansas and Nebraska being left out of the Big 10 and Pac10.
"You could have Nebraska drifting around looking for a Wac or Cusa or Mtn West seat." Norm replies, "Oh, my!"
Presser is at noon today (Beebe).
