I know Nebraska has a big national following, but last time I checked MO has about 3 times as many tv sets. Nebraska certainly has the history, but history means nothing these days. The Big 10 may want both or neither of these schools, but Missouri may be the better catch in the long run.

This whole thing is a lot like closing time at the single's bar. Everyone is flirting with everyone but hoping they don't go home with the ugliest girl.

And yet Kansas remains completely out of the discussion.

We are all over this and are planning on getting out before closing time. When the lights go on, it's usually too late for anything good to happen

ive stayed out of most of the conference talk, because no one really knows whats going to happen/when it will happen. As for the comment about KU, and for that matter K-State.... I hope both end up in a conference with us, new SWC or expanded CUSA. I have a hard time believing TCU will realign unless they are added to the Big 12, which most likely wont happen. I really hope when the dust settles we have a division or conference that includes: Houston, Rice, Baylor, Tulsa, KU, K-state, and maybe Tulane. Of course, I would love to have TCU in there but I don't see it happening.

I'm still being told that we have something cooking that is a step up. Given the latest happenings, I just don't see it. But we'll see.

Nebraska / Mizz deadline next Friday 5pm?

http://www.omaha.com/article/20100605/SPORTS/706059785

Sources: Three conferences hinge on Nebraska's call

Multiple sources throughout college athletics, when discussing on Saturday a Pacific 10 Conference raid of six schools from the Big 12, used the word “probable'' more than “possible.''
Those interviewed by The World-Herald expressed confidence that the Pac-10 was moving quickly to get in position to add Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech and Colorado.
That activity puts Nebraska directly in the middle of the national conference realignment scene.
The Austin American-Statesman, citing two sources from Big 12 schools, reported Saturday night that NU and Missouri have been given until Friday at 5 p.m. to declare whether they are with the Big 12 or will pursue a move to the Big Ten.

I believe very little that I read in the Statesman. Nebraska and Mizzou must declare their intentions by 5 o'clock? Whatever. And what will happen if they don't commit to anything by 5 o'clock? I don't think there is anything in the Big 12 rules that would authorize such a demand.

Nebraska and Missouri can't answer that question without an invitation by the Big Ten. If you put these two schools on the clock, you are in essence doing the same for the Big Ten.

Its very possible that TCU could end up in a pretty good situation without "realigning". It looks very possible that MWC will be left intact if six Big 12 teams go to the PAC. MWC could add Boise St, Kansas and Kansas St and stay at 12 teams with a championship. That would be a pretty darn good conference competitively-or they could expand its footprint ( but split it 16 ways) by adding from among UH, Iowa St., Baylor, Nevada, Fresno and SMU.

that Friday 6:00 deadline makes a lot more sense when you realize that the Nebraska Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet next week. I've read somewhere that the Big 10 maybe ready to act on Nebraska to keep them from twisting in the wind-don't know the truth of that statement.

I imagine that will be a depressing option for blue blood Jayhawks. As for Colorado vs. Baylor for the PAC10 expansion with the other southern Big XII schools, the Buffaloes would be the easy choice IMHO. Could Texas politicians force their will, especially for a private school? Denver vs. Waco? No contest!

It appears a 16 team MWC is our best option, since the Big XII would be a shadow of its former self (assuming their is not a merger of the two, similar to what might happen with BE FB and ACC.)

I don't like our odds if those are the choices. Something tells me we are going to get left out in the cold again.

yeah we really needed the MWC to take a hit-which seemed very likely a few weeks ago. Of course, Baylor over Colorado would be very bad for us too because Colorado would fit very nicely in the MWC. I think the Baylor Legislative Initiative will fail. The PAC ain't taking a "Bible School" run by an idiot. PAC will simply call the bluff and the Texas schools will cave.
