Kansas Politician Threatens Legal Action

Postby Stallion » Wed Jun 09, 2010 12:59 am

sooner or later its going to Court. Now would be a damn good time for the Kansas Attorney General to seek a TRO based upon irreparable harm-he'd probably get elected Governor. Its amazing to me this entire system hasn't been challenged yet. Facts get juicier and more delicious every day with potential damages approaching Billions of dollars.

Well, I for one would love to see the current system implode. Yes, we are talking about the rich getting richer and so forth but the current system is killing us as well. Let the greed of a few take over and then see what the consequences are. SMU might be fortunate to not be in the first wave of realignment. THe lawsuits and legislative misadventures may make those that make the first move far more vulnerable to adverse action. The greed of the few will run into a massive wall of resistance from the majority.

The response by BC$ will need to provide a rational discussion on how more schools participate and are rewarded. Given their preference to give the sleeves out of their ve$ts, any openness will be narrowly defined, i.e. number of AQ conferences, number of schools with in a conference and the theortical opportunity for those outside of future BC$ alignment.

This is why the Kansas, KSU, ISU and perhaps Baylor/CO dilemma is crucial to acceptance. The same would be true to ony FB reminant from the BE, if they are parceled between Big10/11 and ACC. By these projected actions, are any current BCS schools demoted? Are any non-BCS schools promoted? What opportunities exist for the resulting non-QA conferences and their schools?

Our option appears to hope for an invitation to a newly configured BC$ conference and/or encourage the legal challenges, which are better pursued by those who are likely to be demoted. Either way feels too passive.

In a prefect world, the NCAA should reassume control over FB. Could that happen?

I love hearing the blowhards go on and on about breaking up the long tradition of the Big 12, which is 14 years old. Granted the Big 8 was around longer than that so there has been a long tradition of those schools playing each other. I do wonder whether Senator Roberts was lamenting the demise of the SWC, which was 82 years old so it actually had some history.
