Are SMU Officials Doing Anything?

With all the changes about to go down, does anyone know if Orsini, the board, the rich connected donors, etc. are doing anything to try and carve a spot out for us?
Seems like a prime time to form alliances and backroom deals, I hope we are not just sitting around to see what happens.

From all accounts Steve was supposed to join June and company in Austin for the coaches tour, but stayed in Dallas to attend to "hot issues." I'm sure we're doing all we can.

This. June was with Mack Brown a few days ago and Brown confirmed that UT & Co. would be leaving for the Pac-10 if someone left the Big XII. it could have been a simple TX coaches get-together, but one can only hope their meeting was something along the lines of "we're still dedicated to keeping the Big XII together, so we'll make sure that SMU, UH, TCU, etc. get invites once we leave for the Pac-10".

June has said several times that we were being proactive and would be ready when alignment hits. Orsini has proven to be a very capable deal maker. My guess is he knows more about the alignment settlements (not rumors but what has been agreed to by schools) and has been acting on opportunities accordingly. This isn’t the Pye crowd in charge. And thankfully, for whatever reason, Orsini is with us and not ND at this critical time.

Wife confirmed it was him!
Not as bad as it seems though.
She talked to his wife and in their defense this stay-cation was planned WELL BEFORE any of this expansion crap came up. He couldn't let the kids down but he IS doing business while he is there. My wife couldn't ask Steve anything, he was floating the lazy river with Sewell, Ford, and maybe a Hunt or two.

i'm somewhat kidding about its relevance in this context, but do you mean that great contract with Doherty that Deal Man Orsini orchestrated?

Even Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II and Obama have made at least one mistake. I cut them slack so I will cut Orsini slack.

Wait scratch that.
Jerry Jones is there....but he is with Wade Phillips. Wade has this day trip in his contract.
Just a coincidence, was hoping Jerry was backing us. Sorry for the false alarm.
