FedEx Weighs in for Memphis -- Looks East

From the Memphis Commercial Appeal online:

(Memphis AD) Johnson said he was unsure whether the remainder of the league would stay together. If they try to rebuild the Big 12, that would potentially be an option for Memphis.

The same source, however, said that the people working on behalf of Memphis were more confident about where the Tigers stood relative to the Big East -- assuming the Big East isn’t poached beyond repair by the Big 10 or another league.

Whatever happens, it’s clear that FedEx is at the forefront of Memphis’ effort to get into another conference. Johnson joked that he had “two of the highest paid assistant ADs in the history of mankind,“ referring to FedEx chairman Fred Smith and CFO Alan Graf."
