unrealthis whole thing is like a car crash. Sickening yet fascinating. Can you believe our finest academic institutions in this country are reduced to this backstabbing shell game? This is no different than Gordon Gekko engineering a corporate raid. The chaos and confusion in the "market" and lack of planning that is obviously going on is unreal.

Re: unrealCouldn't agree more. The sad thing for us is waiting to see how many of the dominos in front of us have to fall first before we figure out our situation.
Re: unrealI can't understand the total lack of leadership amongst instituitions--it like the inmates are in charge.
Re: unreal
Can I believe...yes. I have seen it before. Greed isn't always the best emotion for long term planning. The unintended consequences are yet to be seen. I do think that if enough bad blood is spilt, then the have-nots will respond. It may be legal but more than likely through goobernment. If so, then this whole super conference idea will be a market failure. And once goobernment gets invloved, then college sports will become a disaster.
Re: unrealIt is what it is. A very scary situation for any school on the outside looking in. Think about what's going on at Baylor right now. Schools like SMU and Baylor all over the country are crossing their fingers that somehow they don't get left out of this game of musical chairs. Just hope and pray that the men we have leading our university now are on top of the situation and doing everything they can to ensure we end up in the best situation possible.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: unreal
Only thing is, we have been on the outside looking in for fourteen years, this actually gives us a chance to improve our situation, unlike some schools whose whole world could come crashing down. Probaly won't happen...BUT...maybe it will!!
Re: unrealJust to recap the past few days:
1. The Big 10 now has 12 teams. 2. The Big 12 now has 10 teams. 3. The Pac 10 now has 11 teams. 4. Rick Neuheisel will now be coaching against his old team. 5. The Stoops brothers may end up coaching against each other. 6. Turner Gill has been given the shaft by his old coach for the second time. 7. Kansas may be homeless 8. KU's athletic director is resigning amidst scandal at the worst possible time for their school. 9. USC is on probation. 10. Colorado is on academic probation. 11. Nebraska and Oklahoma will never play again. 12. Texas is threatening to never play Texas A&M again. 13. Oklahoma may never play Texas again if they go alone to the SEC. 14. Oregon kicked out their heisman trophy candidate QB. Did I miss anything?
Re: unreal
this is hilarious. you could have added Mizzou being left on the side of the road after starting the whole thing too. just wow.
Re: unreal
And SMU is still blackballing UNT WEST DIVISION CHAMPS 2010
Re: unreal
Hell! They've been incharge since the inception of the cartel! ![]() BRING BACK THE GLORY DAYS OF SMU FOOTBALL!!!
For some strange reason, one of the few universities that REFUSE to use their school colors: Harvard Crimson & Yale Blue.
Re: unrealNaaah, the cartel was just a manifestation of what started all this.
![]() It was started when a very liberal Supreme Court decided that the individual schools, not the NCAA controlled TV contracts, number of appearances, etc. NCAA has been very wimpy since, but scapegoats a few schools now and then when they really deserve it ![]() ![]() May the forth be with us.
Re: unreal
He already was doing that. Remember that he coached at Washington after Colorado.
Re: unreal
Both of them. It's a crappy job but someone's gotta do it.
Re: unrealand to think SMU started all of this by beating the whorns at their own game back in the 80's
Re: unrealhmmmmmm, interesting charleston
