...naked pictures of someone at ESPN, which he is using as blackmail! He has singlehandedly reported all the breaking news/updates with respect to all the PAC-10/Big-12/Big Ten conference realignment talk. ESPN continues to quote him like crazy. Tuesday, his twitter account went from 200 followers to over 7,000. What's the story with this guy?!?

Clearly, UT is feeding him info. We dont know for sure how this all ends up

I wouldnt be suprised if he ends up being a pawn - used to unknowingly spread some false info.

He is turning into Baghdad Bob.

It is fairly clear now that Texas bluffed and had no real backup plan. They just assumed everyone would follow them as usual.

Just curious, how is this clear? Because Texas didn't move before Nebraska and Colorado?

And what exactly has Chip Brown been wrong about so far?

He reported Nebraska had accepted the Big 10's offer and that, basically, the Big 12 was dead a few days ago. Now, who knows?

(But we'll know soon.)

And he spent the first half of the week claiming Nebraska wasn't getting an offer to the Big 10. Texas was issuing ultimatums and hurling insults--through him--and they didn't have their options locked up. Now they are fighting to keep A&M in line.

Not saying he didn't have some good information as well, but it was all PR from the Texas athletic department. Notice every source he has is "an athletic director with knowledge of the Big Ten" or "an athletic director with knowledge of the Big 12." Nice and vague, but pretty obvious who it was.

I didn't think he was that bad at the time I wrote the above, but I have to back off... Chip Brown has now reported just about every single possibility for the Longhorns except joining the Canadian Football League (displacing the Saskatchewan Roughriders). He guaranteed, at this point, no matter what happens, of being "right"

What a jackhole.

He's Deloss Dodd's secret mouthpiece. Deloss is using him like a shoe.

I love the idea of the Longhorns joining the CFL!
Can we find a way to spread that rumor? :-)

I already started it, even try to sell it with SMU to Arena League Circuit, but it didn't gain any traction. If only Chip would tweet it.

Chip Brown has done a good job with all this, but what's really annoying is how he always puts his website into the story itself. His website has gotten more free advertising than anyone could have imagined, but the site isn't the story, and should be left out of the text of the story. He sounds like Sal Paulantonio, who is one of the most obnoxious self-promotors on the air.

how anyone can criticize Chip Brown in all of this is beyond be. His coverage has driven this story. Whatever happens, doesn't mean he was right or wrong. It just means the story evolved.

I think he's had the story right just about every time except with Nebraska not being invited to the Big 12. Facts change-so the story changes. I bet a mathmetician could come up with a Billion of scenarios and permutations but he's got the gist. Also, its ludicrous to suggest he shouldn't reference Rivals. That's who he works for and pays his salary so he can spend all day chasing rumors. Rivals has been cooperative enough to add most of his stories as free content.
