It looks to me like college football is positioning itself as a mini-NFL. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but lower ticket prices, lower concession prices, lower parking fees, and more fan participation were attractive to me. It is unattractive to me to see schools whoring themselves, willing to do anything to get into a higher ranking conference. What happened to integrity? What is the purpose of college football? Is it strictly a money maker for the universities or is it a means for students who have athletic ability to win scholarships to go to college? The concept of the FCS instead of the FBS is not all that unattactive to me. That's just me.

Amen. This is all absurd. Too much money in "non-professional" sports. It is now a NFL type atmosphere with $5M+ a year in salaries, etc.

So where's the DMN's in-depth analysis on hometown SMU's prospects?
The East Coast & UT big-timers there obviously don't give a dime.

And we got the "death penalty" for paying players. Not that we didn't deserve it, but compared to what is going on today, it was mild.
