Big 12 = BoringThe only game to watch is Tx/OU
Re: Big 12 = Boring
Whoaa...what about the SMU/TX game? ![]() SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Big 12 = BoringI don't know. Iowa St - Houston could be great!

Re: Big 12 = BoringThe strangest part of this all is that Fox is paying about $3 billion for it, and the outcome will be decided by the end of the Texas State Fair every year. They couldn't have come up with that money two weeks ago and kept the conference together?
Re: Big 12 = Boring
another strange thing is that Texas & Company are just gonna relinquish their primetime slot on abc and hand it right over to the jim delaney conference for their new shiny conference championship game? are they crazy? who cares what Mack the old ball coach wants/thinks? Take BYU and someone else and be done with it and keep your champ game.
Re: Big 12 = BoringIF the Big XII stays together, and IF it has only the 10 existing teams, then the powers that be at UT are absolutely stupid. Sure, they might get as much money from the new network, but the conference will be so boring and the competition so lackluster, that it will be an absolute joke. SEC is still the strongest conference, Big Ten and Pac 10 can add a conference championship, and the Big 12 got weaker and lost their championship? It makes no sense.
Re: Big 12 = BoringBig 12 isn't adding anyone. Not BYU, TCU, or anyone else. The new agreement has very harsh consequences for current members leaving and strictly prohibits the addition of new members.
Back off Warchild seriously.
Re: Big 12 = BoringSo they have their core 10 until they want to add 6 or Texas, OU, and/or ATM decide to leave (they will be able to pay whatever penalty)
There must be more $$$ potential in future.
Wrong, the Big 12 is not BoringThe Big 12 south has been the essence of the Big 12, and only the conference championship game with the weak northern division has been boring. The ten team league is at least as good as the old Southwest Conference, and OU is a much better power than Arkansas ever was. Even if the schedule a matter of who can beat Texas, the rivalries are intense. Just ask the Tech boosters in Lubbock.

Re: Big 12 = BoringWhat this does is stop major expansion in 4 major conferences-the SEC, the Big 10, Big 12 PAC and probably the MWC too. Nobody will want do a thing because the only pawn that makes sense are the Texas and Oklahoma state schools. I'm beginning to think the PAC won't even add Utah. I also think that the MWC will stay at 9 or 10. If Utah left and they went to 10 they might consider one more-Houston if they somehow had assurances of those new athletic facilities. UH will push for some type of state funding/sponsorship or student activity fee to be competitive for next round. We've got a STALEMATE

When momentum starts rolling downhill in recruiting-WATCH OUT.
Re: Wrong, the Big 12 is not Boring
Assume you missed last years game that literally came down to the last second. It will be OU or UT every year. Maybe they'll rename it to the Big OUT
Re: Big 12 = Boring
Man, thats too bad. Scott was just on espn saying they will continue to look at expansion ideas, would love for them to take utah (i think). I could have sworn that was the PAC's first option was colorado and Utah when this started before UT and the rest got thrown in the mix. That would leave Boise, Air Force, BYU, and TCU in a wide MWC conference.
Re: Big 12 = BoringIt seems like outside powers got involved and slowed everything down before it got totally insane. And A&M to the SEC and the other 4 Big 12 South schools to the Pac-16 is insane. This seems like everybody is just taking a step back and exhaling. The Big 12 with it's current 10 teams is going to be one of the lesser BCS conferences with regards to football strength and prestige. A one loss Big 12 team will not go to the BCS title game and it will be next to impossible for them to get two teams into the BCS games. I can't imagine Texas and Oklahoma are going to like being in what will be seen as one of the weakest BCS conferences. On the other hand, now all they have to do is get by Oklahoma to go to a BCS game. They schedule an easy non-conference schedule and now without the Big 12 title game, maybe they have an easier road to the national title each year.
While Nebraska and Colorado have been down latesy, we are still talking about two programs that in the last 20 years have three national titles and two heismans between them. That is a lot more than A&M, Tech, OSU, Kansas, Kansas State, Baylor, and Iowa State can say. The Big 12 lost their 3rd and 4th best teams and that is going to really weaken the conference.
Re: Big 12 = BoringThe Big 10 is now the equivalent of the Pac 10. Pointless conference.
Re: Big 12 = BoringWait, the Pac-10 went out to get Texas and came home with Colorado? The same Colorado whose football team is sinking, whose basketball program is a ghost and which has no baseball team? Where are the magic beans?
Meanwhile, Texas gets richer and ISU, Mizzou, Kansas, K-State and OSU get a place to live. Seems like the Pac-10 got hosed.
