It was nice to meet some of the ~300 SMU fans at the game today. Glad ya'll came.
A humble request though- can your band director please add more variety to the lineup? I'll bet you played the same song 80 times today- absolutely brutal on the ears.
See ya at Moody.

Sorry, no can do. Just be lucky the band wasn't like it was in the Old days when they would play it hundreds of times during a game. Just remember, the more you tell them NOT to play it, the more they will.

My USC friends always tell me how tired they get of hearing "Rocky Top" when they play Tennessee. I tell them the only way to fix that is to win those games. Just imagine what your torture would have been if we were on the positive side of today's score!!!

Well, you're band had TONS of variety....They played their ENTIRE halftime show AGAIN at the end...Boy, was that fun!
Apparently The Band Of Pride liked Peruna, cuz at one point the Trombones tried (unsuccessfully) to play it....
BTW, READ MY SIGNITURE!!!!

It's ok, young Spaz. They know not what they speak. Hopefully they didn't whip you guys with their rendition of "The Horse."

Thanks for the hospitality, LATECH - had a nice trip out to your place .... except for the outcome of the game, of course. But the town was more lively than I expected, and to a man, the LaTech fans I talked with were classy and encouraging toward us, which was appreciated. I even talked to one guy who described himself as something of a recruiting nut, and he said he's not sure if he wants to see LaTech follow us to Conference USA, if they get the chance, because he thinks SMU will add so much young talent over the next couple of years that LaTech might not be able to match up with us! After seeing today's game, that offered a glimmer of hope for the future.

I didn't mean to come across negatively towards the SMU band. I think the LA Tech band really enjoyed the sparring back & forth in the 2nd half.
Again, enjoyed meeting the very classy SMU fans- thanks for coming! Your team will get better with more experience.
Go WAC!

OH yeah, neither did I
It was one of those times when they played our song and we got really mad with a huge smile on our faces.
Honestly? It was one of the WORST games I've seen, but it was by far the MOST FUN game I've played at this year! You guys were excellent fans, and I TRULY hope you follow us to the CUSA.
Good luck with the rest of your year!

Much Agreed. It was definitely the most fun I've had at a game all year. I just wish I could say that from watching the football game, too.
Oh you gotta love it. The horns, the drums, the noise! It's all for the love of music, for the love of the game.

I just wanted to clear up one thing for the LATECH fan and maybe you could pass this on. WE WERE NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE AT HALFTIME. We actually SPED UP our show in order to accomadate the 2 minutes the Hall of Fame presentation went over. We basically played over our song announcements to get back lost time, then almost RAN off the field.
Please, don't think we were trying to overstay our welcome at all. It wasn't us, it was the previous presentation.

Spaz, the SMU band was talented & loud (lots of horns). I haven't seen LA Tech fans applaud an opposing team's band like that in years, save Rice's MOB.
Your band didn't overstay it's welcome at halftime. That was us trying to fit 10 #s into a 5 # bag. LA Tech Hall of Fame inductees, visiting band, our own halftime show... we just ran outta time.
I sat between the sparring bands- THAT WAS A LOT OF FUN TO WATCH! And as I said earlier, your fans are 100% class.
Best wishes to SMU (until we meet in Moody). : )
