still holding strong on the theory....

With Utah jumping ship, this leaves the Mountain West with two options. Either invite SMU and Houston, who are also being courted by the Big 12 or raid the WAC of their two remaining viable teams, Fresno State and Nevada (Reno). Unfortunately for the Mountain West, the second option looks more realistic.

Can't put my finger on it but Todd Jacobs is much better than Chip Brown.

TJ could win a Pulitzer

Check out Todd's answer to my question in the comment section under the article. He sounds convinced that smu/houston are moving...for whatever that's worth.

This just ain't happening. First of all, why can't people believe Beebe when he says they are sticking with 10 teams? (Well, I believe him anyways)

Second, Chuck Carlton of the DMN brings up a great point when he says that SMU, Houston, and even TCU represent television markets that the Big XII simply doesn't need. With a plethora of Texas schools already, as if UT wasn't enough, they simply don't need to add more.

I would like to see the facts on how many watch certain games. As an example, I believe TCUs game vs Utah last year probably drew more TVs than any game Baylor played in. Our games with Texas Tech and TCU this year should be excellent draws on ESPN National TV. Otherwise, why would ESPN want them ? Is Baylor or Iowa State scheduled on National TV games this year other then just the Big 12 network games ?

where does anyone get that SMU is being courted by the former Big XII?

SMU remains in CUSA unless TCU and the MWC want to expand to 12 and host a championship game...and even then it will be interesting to see who is chosen. MWC is in position to take their pick from among WAC and CUSA west teams.
