BEACHUM and BROOKS: Leave no doubt

In 2007, SMU's recruiting class included a pair of tackles in Kelvin Beachum, Jr., and J.T. Brooks. One was undersized, the other oversized, and neither was ready to play right away. Now, going into their junior year, Beachum and Brooks are two of the Mustangs' most valuable players, vital to the success of SMU's Run-and-Shoot offense.

Brooks and Beachum visited with PonyFans.com to discuss how they have re-shaped their physiques while developing their game, and discussed the philosophy of the offensive line heading into the 2010 season.

Good story - nice to see the big guys get some pub, which in this case is richly deserved.

Good guys, taking their responsibility seriously. What's the story on Bryce? Has he been released to work out yet?

Thanks for the story fellas. Gotta like this comment from Beachum: “I have some thick uncles and kinfolk”.

Anyone else think Klemm has a shot as our next HC after JJ calls it a day?

Funny you should ask: no, he has not yet been cleared to work out, but he is getting close. He has another doctor's appointment in a few days, at which point he hopes to be fully cleared to resume all workouts. Got a story on its way — he said he is feeling a lot better, calling his status "closer to 100 percent than I've been in my college career." He's not back yet, but he's close.

I love Klemm - both his recruiting and what I have seen him doing on the practice field. I would not be surprised to see him as a head coach some day, but since he has not been coaching that long I would think it would be awhile until he was ready for all of the parts of being a head coach besides recruiting and coaching. So, to answer your question, I guess it depends on how long it is until JJ calls it a day.

B&B — best pair of tackles we've had in the last 20 years?
I say yes. Can't wait to see how good they are as seniors.

Great stuff, PP.
When's the last time we had a pair of tackles this good?
They're both better than I ever thought they'd be.

Great stuff and it is way worthy to have a good story on the big nasty's on the Oline. Love the tough guys, they will make their mark here before they are through at SMU.
