When, if at all, will Turner make a statement today?

Turner is a coward. He will not say anything about this publicly. If no other reason except all admissions decisions are confidential.

If something is said, it will more than likely be a statement from his read by someone else.

I doubt he will. Press conferences have bright lights, and rats like the dark.

(Rat is too strong, but I liked the analogy)

Although I disagree with his decision, I sure as hell don't want to see him come out and do a press conference! You people are nuts. Why would you drum up more interest in this embarrassing story by calling a PC?

He needs to issue a statement, that tells the truth, and that should be the end of it. Behind the scenes they need to work this [deleted] out so it doesn't happen again.

Agreed. Seems like an honest, up-front release would be the way to handle this. That, and/or a personal letter to Mustang Club members. Although it seems like sending a message -- or even posting a message -- on PonyFans would be the quickest way to put out this fire.

Having a press conference would be for Turner like what this Whorn is experiencing:

I can't see Turner using the platform of a PC to address this situation. Could the two young men still be admitted or is it a done deal that they're gone?

No publicist in the world would stage a press conference for something like this, and the nature of this scenario is such that he would be asked a slew of questions which, by law, he would not be allowed to answer, per federal privacy laws (not to mention SMU rules). If President Turner were to have a press conference, all that would be said would be a bunch of "no comment" statements, in which case he would look even worse. I don't like the way this has gone, or the way it has been handled, but to expect a press conference here is beyond wishful thinking.

And no, the proposed "statement" (if it ever comes out), is not coming today. It has been pushed back, if not cancelled altogether.

I forget who wrote it on here, but I'm looking at this like the poster who said (basically) "hey, I don't like everything my wife does, either, but I get mad, express my displeasure and then get over it and remember that I love my wife." (Paraphrasing, obviously.) I don't like this whole thing any more than anyone else does, but SMU football/athletics is bigger than any individual athlete. Do I wish Hall and Jackson were coming to SMU? Absolutely. But at some point, we have to move on.

Turner should have a LeBron-like hour-long live show! :)
Call it, "The Decision II"

"Getting over it" without addresssing the underlying causes is nuts. That is like leaving an unexploded IED lying around.

If it is communication to the AD about the admission rules, fix it.
If it is putting in place the promised process, fix it.

Whatever it is, do not sweep this under the rug.
 :?
