Dear Mr. NickSMU17,

Thank you for your recent emails. As I was drafting this response, I received your second today. We all want to field successful teams, particularly in football and basketball. That is why so many procedural changes have been made over the last three years.

We obviously need to modify our procedures for students whose NCAA eligibility/SMU admissibility cannot be determined until after the end of the spring semester, which is often in early June. Accordingly, I have created a joint committee of the Athletic Department and the Provost’s Office to review these issues and make recommendations by the end of the summer.

Best wishes,

R. Gerald Turner
President

yep.
it also sounds like this committee is tasked to address the timing issue, not necessarily further loosening SMU admission standards, if appropriate. Hopefully, both get addressed.

Dear Mr. NickSMU17,

That was an unnecessary hoot!

I assume you edited the salutation from Dr. Turner and nothing else for posting here?

Perhaps an acknowledgment of this by you will stop any "fake" protestations form anyone here.

Admissions standards were raised w/o even so much as asking the ADs opinion. Nothing is going to change other than denying kids a lot earlier to avoid the press. No crime in higher standards(unless a revenue fan), just in the manner it was handled.
