I wish him the best, he will fit in well with Tech, 6'7 300lb athletic lineman.

One thing I've noticed for years, Turner never misses a good photo-op.

I don't understand, Turner told him to go to JC, not the 13th grade...

UPDATE: Texas Tech not done with 2010 class? Reply
A situation that RedRaiderSports.com has been following for a little over a week is quickly coming to a head. You may see Texas Tech add one more signee to its 2010 class -- if they do, it will come at the expense of another in-state program.

Lakewood (Calif.) Mayfair offensive lineman Darryl Jackson is back on the market after being denied admission to SMU. Jackson's situation is similar to recent signee Tahrick Peak in that he has met the NCAA's academic requirements but was not admitted by the university. Jackson is now back in California evaluating his options, and the Red Raiders are heavily in the mix.

"I'm very interested in Texas Tech," he told Chris Level earlier today. "I don't have any family there (in Texas) but I've made some great connections with people down there and Lubbock's not that far from Dallas. It would be a great situation being in a city like Lubbock.

"Texas Tech is a big-time football school. They would put me in a position to go straight to the league"

How good is Jackson? From an athletic standpoint, there's no question that he can play; yes, he's raw, but the potential is there. Jackson has piqued the interest of several programs, including Boise State, Louisiana Tech, UCLA and Texas A&M*.

Because it's so easy to win in Lubbock, we felt we needed to give them a 6'7, 330 lb. pissed off, badass starter kit on a silver platter. great...

Although that whole bit about "Lubbock's not that far from Dallas. It would be a great situation being in a city like Lubbock" makes one wonder if maybe he didn't quite have a 50/50 shot at graduating...

I am sure that someone - and likely several - will report on the future academic and other achievements of the players denied admission at SMU. I suppose that one of them might go in a baseball draft and the other might or might not end up in a California Community College or even in Lubbock. I don't know which would have happened if JJ and staff had not gotten into the issue, but I certainly wish them the best. Jackson especially sounded like a stud. But that's beside the point, really. It was not the right way to treat people.

Quick question...if he can't get into SMU, but he can get into Tech, how is SMU now on an "even playing field" again?
