Prayer request for Joey Fontana

As all of you know, SMU guard Joey Fontana suffered a major injury to his left knee during practice before the Ponies headed to Honolulu for the Hawaii Bowl. He had surgery to repair the torn ligaments, but he also suffered nerve damage in his leg that has reduced his ability to lift and control his foot. Joey had the surgery three months ago, and doctors have said it usually is five months before controlled movement returns after an injury like his.

Nevertheless, he and his family are headed to France tomorrow to visit the town of Lourdes. In 1858, according to Catholic faith, Mary told St. Bernadette to dig, and when she did, she found water. A grotto was built on the site, and it has been credited with many healings. There are stories of people who have gotten out of wheelchairs, crutches, braces, etc., and walked away.

Joey has asked for SMU fans who pray to keep him in your prayers. He has worked tirelessly on his rehabilitation, and he knows it could be months before he is able to regain control of his foot. But he is understandably very frustrated with the slow progress, and is hoping his family's journey to Lourdes will accelerate his return to good health.

Have a relative who has been to Lourdes numerous times many of which he brought groups of people at his expense. Never been, but have heard a lot about it.

Should be an experience Joey and his family will always remember.

Prayers never hurt.
