Hey Folks-

My father, a graduate of the SMU Law school in 1948, passed away last week at the age of 90 (a couple of days after a stroke) He was a member of the Texas Bar for 60 years. He loved the Mustangs and started taking me to games in the late 60's. Like many of his Mustang contemporaries he saw SMU football in the 30's, the Doak era and of course Meredith, Hixson, Mustang Mania, the DP etc. He and my Mom financed my four years at SMU from 78-82. Fabulous years! Since I moved from Texas, we talked after most every game and still saw many in person together. I really enjoyed the conversation after the Bowl win!

It had been a tough year for him, as my Mom died in March. But I was able to see him several times this year with my own family. I will be taking my son to more games this year, which I am sure will help.

I don't post that much, but I lurk frequently. I appreciate the discussion throughout the year. I just wanted to salute my Dad on here for introducing me to SMU and Mustang sports all those years ago.

Beat Tech.

The M&M boys from the late 60's and the roar of the cotton bowl was fun. Glad that you got the exposure and the great times with your dad. You will think of him often.
Peace be with you all, in Christ.

Please accept my deepest sympathies. It is wondrful that you and he shared so much together. I know it was a blessing to me that my father and I shared so much because of SMU. I hope you have comfort in those fond memories. Once again my condolenses to you and your family.

My condolences to you and your family. In the grand scheme of things, I know SMU football is trivial, but it's great that he got to see one more bowl win. May God bless and comfort you.
