UTSA's Indoor FacilityJust FYI at luncheon meeting today where plans and timeline for indoor facility for UTSA discussed. It will be part of new athletic fields facilities for football. Cost to build not as much as one would think and can be completed in relatively short time period. My guess is they will have one done before us.
Also, they are very excited about getting Hall. Seemed to think he is quite a player and we will miss him.
Re: UTSA's Indoor FacilityI'm guessing nearby real estate isn't as expensive near UTSA.

On a side note, anybody need a patent attorney? Good, Bad...I'm the one with the gun.
Re: UTSA's Indoor FacilityI'm so glad East Stang thinks we don't need one. Having facilities inferior to UTSA won't hurt recruiting, right?
"I think Couchem is right."

Re: UTSA's Indoor FacilityAhhhh...my tax dollars at work.
![]() SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: UTSA's Indoor Facility
damn expensive. Tried to buy some. Not as expensive as near SMU though. They also have excess land the University owns.
Re: UTSA's Indoor FacilityWhy cant' we use the UA Cine spot for a indoor facility? Or just hijack the one at HP when we need it

Re: UTSA's Indoor Facility
Mrs Baird's building still there?
Re: UTSA's Indoor FacilityI had heard that we approached HPHS about helping to fund their's and using it on occasion and they said, "No." Which makes sense, because a HS is likely to use a practice facility all the time for all kinds of stuff.
I think the higher cost for SMU stems from the fact that SMU won't get away with building a simple "shed" or a "bubble" in Highland Park, whereas UTSA can get away with it. SMU is going to have to build something more substantial. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Re: UTSA's Indoor Facility
and what does this have to do with anything SMU-related? Who cares what goes on in San Angelo?
Re: UTSA's Indoor Facilitythis is a good little breakdown of the Big 12 facilities and their costs...

Re: UTSA's Indoor Facility
Because it's an arms race. If you choose not to keep up with the Joneses, you get smashed. If you want to see what happens when you underspend and take the high road on academics, look no further than the abject failure that was 1989-2007.
Re: UTSA's Indoor Facility
When did UTSA move to San Angelo?

Re: UTSA's Indoor Facility
Turns out you were right, not much money to build and they had it before us. ![]() I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.
Re: UTSA's Indoor Facility
Proposal to be privately funded. Red McCombs, Tom Benson, Bill Greehey (former Valero CEO) and others will come up with cash. I am sure SMU could do the same, just need to get the location and start it. I am hoping the powers to be are working on it now behind the scenes.
