Did we know the son of former-NFL running back Larry Centers was walking on at SMU as a slot receiver?

I was always a LC fan, very versatile RB in the NFL.

Before I posted it, I used the search feature on this board and go nothing. So, maybe this is news or maybe not. I haven't been on here every day in the offseason so it was news to me.

Great to see more NFL names associated with the program. Anyone know what kind of player Larry Jr. is?

PonyPride...Have you heard anything recently from the coaches about this kid? I went to my first practice Sat. morning and he looked really good...

I think JJ made a positive comment as well in his post Sat. interview but I could have confused that with Reinbold.

Centers has been a pleasant surprise. He's one of the smallest players out there — he's listed at 5-9, 160 — but he certainly has talent. He has good speed, and a slippery running style. They don't hit much, but even when they wrap up (to simulate a tackle), it seems like very few guys really lock him up with direct hits. There's no question he will get stronger as he grows into his frame and works out in the Mustangs' strength program, and he'll get more comfortable with the offense, but there is evidence of talent. Wide receivers coach Jeff Reinebold and several of Centers' teammates have picked him out as one of the more impressive freshmen. Whether that means he plays this year remains to be seen, but he certainly has impressed his new coach and some of his new teammates.
