Sanders starting to stand out

Something called SteelCityInsider.net wrote a story about our man Emmanuel Sanders, and apparently gave it to the SMU scout site:

Another acrobatic 88 steps to the forefront

LATROBE – The talk started soon after the draft.
“Special, special quickness,” someone said about Emmanuel Sanders.

But, the concern was how the 5-11, 180-pounder from SMU would “carry his pads” at training camp.

It didn’t take long for that worry to fade here. Sanders has been the rookie sensation on a team that appears to have several good ones, and the talk now deals with how soon he’ll step into the lineup. It’s already obvious that Sanders runs better routes than Mike Wallace, who was last year’s team Rookie of the Year.

Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, a third-round pick, is already getting noticed for his routes and smooth running style. He has a chance to make the team and is getting good grades from the coaches. That said, he has a long way to go to get on the field, and there are other young players like Brandon London and sixth-round pick Antonio Brown also vying for a roster spot.

A 'chance to make the team'?...that is a given, why even say that?......

Nothing is a given, unless he's carrying a contract with first-round dollars.
Seems pretty likely he'll make it, but nothing is assured. Fortunately, he's not afraid of a little hard work.

He was very under rated as a WR coming out of SMU and his stock rose quickly when the scouts finally saw what he could do at the Combine....its easy to see that he has the talent and heart to make the team...lets just say its a high probablity that he will be playing alot this year for the Steelers.

I agree. While a third rounder can definitely be cut, it's almost a given that they make the team. Those are still very high picks and teams expect to get NFL players in that round. 5th through 7th is where it starts to get more common to not make the team or be on the bubble.

Unless you are a complete bust and don't have 'it', you would be hard pressed to not make the squad...and I would hardly think ES will be a bust given his work ethic and background....nuff said as I look forward to hearing his name called mucho this year...
