PonyFans.com interview with Pete Fleps

Only two years ago, SMU's defense was among the worst in the nation (edging out only Washington, Idaho, Washington St. and North Texas), they lined up in a 4-3, and the linebacker corps was a big question mark.

My how things have changed! The Mustangs line up in a 3-4, the D is very respectable (even considering they play in the high octane-offense Conference USA), and the linebacker corps is now considered one of the team's strengths.

After practice Monday, PonyFans.com visited with one of the senior leaders of this much-improved group — Pete Fleps. Enjoy!

I really like the fact that he speaks highly of the young linebackers who are taking on bigger roles ... but says he and Youri Yenga should stay on the field the whole time, that the veterans never should come off the field. He sounds like one of the toughest competitors on the team.
