I could see them pursuing North Texas and maybe even UT-San Antonio.

Neither would accept.

I would be surprised to see Hawaii not become independent.

my guess would be unt, portland state, possibly ask utep although doubt they would go...or WAC comletely falls apart.

All they have left is utah st, hawaii, idaho , la tech, NMst, SJSU.

Also saw somewhere that their commish karl benson was out of the office today. wow.

You would be surprised for them to "not" become independent? Really? What's the reasoning for them to do that? I'm not doubting the possibility just trying to imagine their motivations.

UTEP would be crazy to leave CUSA for a WAC without Boise, Fresno, and Nevada. If indeed those teams are all left out in the cold then I have NO idea what becomes of the remainder of the conference.

The WAC is dead. It now only has its weakest members, and there are no regional teams that might make its continued existence possible. Hawaii can either remain with the others, or become independent. Hawaii would be a strong independent due to a trip there being thought of as a reward, while also providing the opportunity for a thirteenth game during the season.

Why the hell would UNT and UT-San Antonio not accept bids to the WAC? I mean really is staying in the Sun Belt a better option? I would think UNT would be doing cartwheels at the chance to be in the WAC. The real lynchpin here is what do the remaining WAC teams try to do? They could try to backfill with teams like UNT, UT-San Antonio, Portland State, etc. What about Eastern Washington? They're a traditionally strong Div1AA program. What about Northern Arizona? Maybe this is the new look WAC?

Hawaii
San Jose State
Utah State
Portland State
La Tech
New Mexico State
Northern Arizona
North Texas
UT-San Antonio
Idaho

LOL. What a travel and logistical nightmare!

Geographically, only two worthwhile options and they are not really worthwhile or options are Utah State and NTSU.

You are correct.

Utah State is currently a WAC member. UNT and UT-San Antonio would be likely possibilities if they wanted to expand into Texas.

BTW, I think CUSA would be wise to keep an eye on UT-San Antonio. A city of 1.5M with an untapped media market might be a nice addition to the conference.
