PonyFans.com interview with Jeremy Johnson

One of the big surprises coming out of 2-a-days is freshman quarterback turned wide receiver Jeremy Johnson. As a receiver, Johnson is still raw, but his potential and talent is such that they may not be able to keep him off the field on Saturdays this fall. Whether he gets a chance to play immediately or not, you'll want to keep an out for the new #17.

Your interviews in training camp have shown every day the difference between quality and quantity. Your coverage this fall has been amazing.

I'm becoming a big fan of Johnson, and I haven't even seen him play yet. It seems like his name keeps coming up as a bright spot in PP's practice reports, and the way Coach Reinebold talks about him, it wouldn't surprise me to see Jeremy crack the rotation early on this season.

I had the privilege of seeing him play in HS several times and on evening news highlights. He was always so smooth, calm and in control. I had my fingers crossed for a long time that he would choose SMU. Several schools were recruiting him as a QB but JJ asked him if he had any asperations beyond college and then told him he would not make it in the pros as a QB. I am still wondering about his friend, Ricky Collins. If anyone knows his whereabouts please post.

He really stands out...even just running routes in drills. Extremely quick and smooth, if he can pick the offense up quickly he will absolutely help this season...

taking the whole "worm" thing in stride; let's hope he handles opposing LBs as well. Can't have too many playmakers

They call him the worm cuss his head is skinny like a worm. That's what the O line said at the lunch.
Come on worm! Reminds me of the movie Friday. 8)

I was watching practice today for a few hours were DEEP at WR lot of talent.

And if they can fit 85,000 in that 65,000 stadium ....
