this would be interesting if it does not happen. Do they go to the big 12?

The former Chancellor makes sense. Too bad the PAC 10 officials were operating on emotional overdrive when they knee jerk reacted to the Texas declination and invited Utah and Colorado. Will really be interesting if they get rejected. Wonder if the Big XII will welcome one or both??

Would not surprise me to see both go to Big 12 if the Pac 10 says no. I am a little surprise that Utah is not real strong academically.

If the contracts have been signed, won't it take a large settlement to tell them sorry, you are out? IS the MWC begging them to come their way?

I think that Utah and Colorado will have to be Junior Colleges for a semester and then they should be allowed in if they do what is required.

Haha. Good one.

Seriously, I have to believe CU would have no problems getting right back into the Big XII if they couldn't manage the PAC 10. Utah would be a fine replacement for NU, both on the football field and everywhere else. Hell, in some ways it would be a step up, IMHO.

And if not, they go right back to the MWC, convince BYU to stay, and bang, there's your 12 teams, until one possibly gets plucked for the Big XII.

Frankly the Big XII might have trouble if CU goes back/stays. Their financial deal assumes that they pay big exit $$ and that money is going to UT et al.

Would the Big 12 have to take them back?

The article is written by a guy who has been writing on the west coast since 1963, and is built around a letter writing campaign of a former UCLA chancellor who also started in the 60s and retired in the 90s. In other words, it is two old guys who like the Pac-10 the way it is. They probably would argue for going back to the Pac-8 if they thought there was a chance. I doubt there is anything to this.

From an old Athletic Association of Western Universities (AAWU) aka Pacific-8 die-hard I think that is an excellent idea as long as they take that pathetic Utah and Colorado alleged universities with them!

I think you guys have the right perspective. I would also have a hard time believing any commissioner would extend two offers (and two universities accept) without haveing the vote of the other members. I would have thought the "vote" by the presidents would be nothing more than formality at this point.
