NFL Week Twob

Looking at the box scores, I saw that E Sanders had a fine game for the Steelers with five catches including one that made Sports Center. McCann had one tackle for the Cowboys. I did not see any rushes for McNeal for the Chargers. Anyone who watched the Boys and the Chargers feel free to chime in.

Shawnbrey had a couple of screen passes, one for a pretty good gain. With the number of runningbacks that San Diego had in camp and the appearance that McNeil is at the bottom of the totem pole, I don't see him having any chance of catching on. In fact, I would expect him to be cut in the next wave or so.

Was not a good night for McCann either, his main competitors got more playing time than him and Gordon had an impressive interception the play after McCann let one get away from him. He did not return any kicks either. Despite a few reports, looks like McCann may be a longshot unless there are more injuries in preseason or the Cowboys keep 5 corners on the team.

Hopefully they can make the practice squads.

My only question was whether McCann's lack of playing time was due to "bottom of the totem pole" status or that the other players had been injured while McCann got extra time in the prior game.
:?

Not really sure, but looks like the Cowboys are enamored with that one guy returning punts and kicks that just became active this week, he did a good job.

You get the feeling that Gordon is being given every opportunity to get the last spot ahead of McCann.

Was at the Redskins game, Larry Johnson was stuffed every play. Portis on the other hand seemed to find holes. I think LJ will not make the team. But there are lots of running backs (Parker will be the featured back next week), I was thinking before the season the Washington might be a good spot for SM to land, but not now. Williams looked good as well. SM might be better served getting cut and watching the injury lists to catch on somewhere mid season or go to Canada or Europe.

Todd Archer thinks McCann misses the cut

I understand you can never have enough corners, but they can still turn to Alan Ball or even Akwasi Owusu-Ansah in a pinch if necessary. Bryan McCann would be the fifth corner. He's played well but he's caught in a numbers' game.
