NYC Mustangs: TTU v SMU

Postby Blvd_Stang » Tue Aug 31, 2010 3:04 pm

Hey Guys - I am an SMU grad living in NYC now. Is there a fun bar everyone goes to in NYC to watch SMU games (specifically for the SMU/TTU Game this weekend!) or just a fun bar in general?

thanks

I've heard nothing. A buddy, Trey Ditto, is on the NYC Alumni board and is trying to find the spot. Sounds a little unorganized. But he's on FB if you want to chase him down. I watched a lot of games at Southern Hospitality last year which is a BBQ place on the UES. Not the greatest but they put the games on for me if they were on. Maybe Hill Country (UT bar) will have it on because there's nothing else.

http://www.theknuckleheads.net/ - you might want to email these guys and ask if they are planning something.

You also might try Hill Country BBQ http://www.hillcountryny.com/ ?

Teachers are the biggest boozers I know. I'll meet wherever. If two alcoholics make an AA Meeting I guess two guys with beer can make a fan club.

Yeah I got an email about the TCU game party, I just figured the Tech game being on ESPN the alumni association could get a big group of people together as well.

I'm a short commute into NYC so I'd be down to come in and watch with fellow Mustangs! Any good bars? Firefly looks awful. Am I am in uptown Dallas? I want to watch the game and enjoy myself, wearing shorts and a pony T...not have to have dress jeans and a $150 polo shirt on.

Just got an email from this Lyndsey girl saying there's no plan for regular game watching before the TCU game. Which is [deleted]. This weekend there's Labor Day but it would be cool to put something together, although it sounds like we're three people right now. How about we pick a neighborhood/ type of place and see what we can do. Maybe Lyndsey or the alumni can blast something if we have a plan. Lots of people showed when JJ and Orsini were in town last winter so there's a fan base.

Totally off the cuff I would say we try one of the BBQ places. Southern Hospitality has always thrown up the games for me when I go in, Brother Jimmy's has a million tvs and they support Southern schools, Hill Country is great but is usually a Texas bar.

I'll have 2 people with me in NYC wanting to watch the game. Firefly isn't that bad a spot but I'd be willing to meet up anywhere. The basement of Hill Country BBQ would also be a good spot...

I will go anywhere to watch in NYC. Even firefly. Just tell me where and I will be there by 3 on Sunday!

If nothing transpires by tonight, how about we just make a plan to meet at Firefly or Hill Country BBQ (where is that?) on Sunday and anyone else on the board who wants to join or any other NYC kids you know can all swing by.

After a place has been picked, we should start a new thread saying to meet there and someone can e-mail this alumni organization and let them know to spread the word. Don't make it some lame official event, just tell them to e-mail NYC alum and let them know if they're interested in watching SMU-Tech on Sunday, to meet at whatever bar we choose.

Anyone have an idea on numbers/ planning bringing a roommate? Getting different numbers and deals based on people.
