His home’s luxuries include a deck, pool, servant’s quarters, a basement, cabana and a porte cochere, which is similar to a garage with no walls.
The guy who wrote this needs to get out more often. 
Porte-cochères should not be confused with carports in which vehicles are parked; at a porte-cochère the vehicle merely passes through, stopping only for a passenger to alight.
SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
