Dear SMU Friends:

On behalf of Dallas City Council Member Tennell Atkins and Dallas Police Officer Jeffrey Jacobs, Co- Chairs for the 2010 SMU Bus Brigade, I write to you today to invite you to participate in an initiative designed to bring the Dallas community to SMU like never before.First, let me say how grateful we at SMU athletics are to these two SMU football lettermen for lending their support and efforts to make this program a reality.Their time at SMU and experiences as SMU student-athletes laid the foundation for the lives they have and the fabulous work they do in and for our community.

This year, our Bus Brigade goal is to have 250 buses sponsored throughout the season at five home games, (excluding TCU), which will result in 12,500 additional fans attending games (50 people per bus @ 250 buses). In addition to the bus, each attendee will receive a game ticket, hot dog and soft drink, an educational program and a great game day experience on our beautiful campus.

As we grow this program, one thing that is vitally important is a connection to the Dallas community. We can be Dallas' college team, butbuilding that connection starts at a young age.We need young people to grow up cheering for the Mustangs and the Bus Brigade campaign can really play a role in that process. These kids will come to campus, learn about the University and our team, and see all that SMU has to offer. It's a wonderful opportunity to share SMU with the Dallas community as a whole.

We need your help to make this happen. Please consider sponsoring one or more buses. Sponsoring a single bus costs just $1000. Perhaps you are in a position to sponsor one bus for each of the 5 weeks for a total investment of $5000. Sponsors of the buses will be recognized on the new Gerald Ford Stadium Videoboard and your gift is tax-deductible, to the extent allowed by law.

Again, I couldn't be more enthusiastic about this important project, not only because it's important to SMU, but because it's important to the City of Dallas.

To order buses and for more information, please contact any of the following people:

Bob Sharp
214-768-4001
Tim Leonard
214-768-4465 Tim McMurray
214-768-7009
Sincerely,

June Jones

great idea. Hopefully it works better than last year when they had a couple of busloads, despite the best efforts of ponyfans to fill up a few

$250 a piece would do five games
$50 each would do one game

I'd be up for something...as long as they do it

I'd make a contribution...only $5,000 to buy a bus for the season. $100 x 50 ponyfans.

pony up...doing this for several years will be our best shot at halfway turning smu into dallas' town (i've got some buddies in west dallas who will gon but you have to pick em up - a free ticket by itself won't get them there)

Any chance they would send a bus or two north, say to the Plano area? I know a lot of buses were not used last year. I can get at least one bus filled for a game or two from the northern suburbs.
