Matt told me that when he was at A&M, the Aggies traveled to Lubbock to face Tech, and during warm-ups, he hit a 70-yarder there. The man has a seriously strong leg.

That was unbelievable. Look at the replay again. This thing just didn't sneak over the cross bar. It had to clear by about 3-4 more yards. I just shook my head saying, "Are you kidding?"

I think it was more than 3-4. Hard to tell on TV, of course, but I would have guessed twice that margin.
Played the hook with his tee shot there, too, starting right and pulling it back through the pipes. Amazing shot.

Y. 5+ easy. So 66 minimum. Not sure about wind conditions.

That was an amazing shot.

I was actually walking out of the room to refresh my drink, assuming we were punting. Saw the screen cut to the field goal unit just as the ball was snapped.

That was the craziest series of events in a 4 or 5 play stretch I have seen in some time. The catch, the guy jumping cleanly over McDermott's head before he got drilled, then the 61 yard field goal out of nowhere. I actually pulled my friends' wives out of the other room and replayed the whole series for them on the DVR before I could move on with the game.

Even the Tech fans are giving him props on this one.

Credit where it's due.

I would think the NFL could use him. I know Texans needed him badly last year!!

One thing to remember about NCAA kicking records. In the 70s and 80s when Erksleben, Tony Franklin and Steve Little were hitting all those 65-69 yard FGs they were kicking off a tee and were kicking their own personal baloon balls. They ought to keep separate records since the rules outlawed them
