DMN: A&M's Sherman looking for kicker

Postby skyscraper » Mon Sep 06, 2010 7:40 pm

Nice blog post by Kate on this. Made me laugh a little bit.
With the news out of College Station that Texas A&M coach Mike Sherman is looking for a kicker on campus , it's probably worth mentioning that SMU kicker Matt Szymanski used to play for the Aggies. He's the same guy who kicked a school-record 61-yard field goal Sunday at Texas Tech.

Szymanski is from College Station and was once ranked the No. 1 kicker in the country while at A&M Consolidated. He served as the kickoff specialist for A&M in 2006 and handled the place kicking in 2007 before transferring.

If I am not mistaken, the last coach there got mad at him for missing a couple of kicks early in the season and went looking for a kicker on campus. Got some guy off the soccer field.
