I read that the line is UAB +12.5. Also read that the line was the same last year, except SMU was the underdog.

I really hope we cover the line. God forbid we came out flat, and struggle to put away a team we should beat by 3 TDs.

God forbid we don't cover the spread? We need to win the game.

I will gladly take a 1 point win.
Fascinating how different thngs are from last year to this. Last year, we won our first game and were apoplectic because it was a too close and the opponent inferior. This year, everyone feels generally OK after a loss because it was a tough opponent in a tough environment and the mistakes were ours and we know we can play better. last year we won and were 12 point dogs; this year, we lost and and are double digit favorites.

Wow, that's more than I thought it would be. I was thinking -7 plus the -3 home field advantage. We typically don't do too well in covering large spreads like this.
That being said, I'll still get in on it. It will go down to -12 I think.

I don't feel that we have earned a 2 TD advantage yet. We have a short week to prepare after a less than stellar offensive performance. Jones has said since the summer UAB has some of the best talent in the conference.
Throw in a rain storm or two to screw up the short week practice and it could cause problems. Also, I hope the kids don’t feel a bit full of themselves after losing a close game to a better opponent. UAB needs a win in the worse way and will be coming after the previous conference doormat for that win.
UAB has another big time running QB. The guy ran for 200+ against FAU. We were excellent against the conventional spread run game Sunday. I don’t know how we will fair against a running QB that can throw little.
I feel we are closer to a 7 point favorite given the rain and short week. The best thing is we don’t have to travel, they do.

It's -11.5 in some places. No total points yet that I've seen.

Actually, that's not what Junior said...the God forbid part was about coming out flat: "I really hope we cover the line. God forbid we came out flat, and struggle to put away a team we should beat by 3 TDs."

FWIW, UAB ranked 145 in Sagarin's this week (6th worst in FBS). SMU at 79.

Also, this thread is obviously about the betting lines. Everyone on the entire board wants us to win the game first and foremost!

SMU 38, UAB 24... with UAB scoring 10 in the 4th to make it look respectable
