UNIVERSITY PARK – SMU quarterback Kyle Padron is still steaming over throwing three interceptions Sunday at Texas Tech.

The sophomore – who had four interceptions in six-plus games last season – plans on taking out his dissatisfactions in Saturday's Conference USA opener against UAB at Ford Stadium.

"I've never played that way before," Padron said. "I know what I can do. And I didn't show it on Sunday. Turnovers happen, but I have to limit those mistakes and put the defense in a better situation. I need to come out this week and execute."

Padron practiced with his teammates Tuesday morning in a steady rain. He said his health – after getting banged up over the course of the Tech game – is fine.

Padron criticized his accuracy, which was one of his trademarks last season. He also said he escaped the pocket too soon on a couple of occasions, missing the chance to connect with his receivers for bigger gains.

"He's like everybody else – he lives with it a little bit," coach June Jones said. "But if you're going to play quarterback, you need to forget and go to the next one."
