SMU won its home-opener for the third straight year improving to 3-0 in its Ford Stadium debut under June Jones
SMU had 247 rushing yards; the most since 320 against Rice in 2007 and the most under June Jones
SMU allowed UAB just 11 first downs, tying the best under June Jones (11 at UCF in 2008)
INDIVIDUAL NOTES
Ja’Gared Davis (LB)
- Tied his career-highs of 9 tackles and 1.5 sacks while setting a career-high with 2.5 tackles-for-loss. He now has 4.5 career sacks and 6.5 TFLs.
Pete Fleps (LB) - Season-high and team-high 13 tackles; his fifth career 10-plus tackle game
Darius Johnson (WR)
- Had a career-best two TD receptions
- Also had career-bests of seven receptions and 45 receiving yards
Zach Line (RB)
- Tied his career-high with two rushing TDs (vs Navy in 2009); now has three on the season and 10 for his career
- Had a career-high 122 rushing yards; his first career 100-yard game. He set a career mark for the second straight week (72 at Texas Tech)
- Had a career-high 16 carries; setting a career mark for the second straight week (12 at Texas Tech)
- Had a career-best 28-yard run
- Had a career-best 25 yards receiving (on two catches); setting a career mark for the second straight week (24 at Texas Tech)
- Had a career-best and team-high 147 all-purpose yards (122 rushing, 25 receiving)
- He has 194 rushing yards for the season; surpassing his season total from last season (189 in 2009)
Kyle Padron (QB)
- Had career-highs of nine carries and 66 rushing yards along with a career-long run of 24 yards
- Had two TD passes (both to Darius Johnson); now has four on the season and 14 for his career
Aldrick Robinson (WR)
- Had four receptions and now has 123 for his career; that ranks ninth at SMU
- Had 51 receiving yards and now has 2114 for his career; that ranks sixth at SMU
Ryan Smith (SS)
- First career forced fumble; forced at 1-yard-line after UAB 50-yard pass play with 13:16 left in the 3rd quarter
- Had his first career interception; getting the pick at 12:52 of the fourth quarter
Matt Szymanski (K/P) - Was 4-for-4 on PATs; now is 7-7 on the season and 106-108 for his career
Taylor Thompson (DE) - Had a sack, his first of the season. Now has 6.5 for his career
Youri Yenga (LB) - Had a half sack, his first of the season. Now has 11.5 for his career.
