Passing Game - Should we be worried?

Are we looking at opposing teams assuming that Line sucks and defending the pass 100%, or do we have some real problems?

One reason, poor practice conditions last week. Still seem out of sync between qb and receivers.

a little concerned, maybe.
it's all just growing pains for KP, per JJ. the good thing is that he didn't throw picks when he "panicked", and that he is athletic enough to run for yardage.
just have to be patient, I guess.

How much of it is "Sophomore" vs. how much of it is "Banged up hand" remains to be seen.

Both teams we have played so far really seemed to play the pass from the opening kickoff. As long as they keep doing that, by all means, keep running the ball.

If Washington St. puts 8 men in the box to stop the ground game and we still can't pass, *then* it's time for concern.

But no, not yet.

yes - passing game sucks right now.

Padron, receivers, or coverage?

We need a receiver to step up and replace Sanders. There were some passes last night that Sanders would have caught.

It is not Padron. Dropped passes early and 2 yard routes when 5 yards are needed for 3rd down conversions don't help. Coaching....We are bound to get better with time. Line looks lighter but still big but so much faster and quicker. He is a player for sure. Good to see backups getting reps.

I have to say they had good coverage, especially on deep routes. Or it looked that way to me.

No, because the running game has been has highly effective thus far and Jones playcalling in the UAB game indicates that he'll stick with the run if given to him by the defense. I was surprised and happy to hear in his postgame comments that he was encouraging Padron to take off if the defense was playing man and he didn't see anything he liked open downfield. SMU is a June Jones coached team that routinely lines up 4 wideouts so the passing offense must be respected even when it's struggling which means that the run will continue to be there which bodes well for the offense going forward because defenses have more to account for now.

i was trying to figure it out last night . it seems as though padron is throwing it to the right spot, but sometimes the wr are not running the right route. also wr need to work on body position - ar has been terrible with this. and yes the 3rd and 5 and running a 2 yard route is killing me.

Absolutely right. We all go through ruts in our jobs, and that's no different for athletes.

The things in which I take comfort are that we know how talented Padron is, and we know what a perfectionist he is. It might take a few games, and that's fine — when it clicks back in, look out.

How cool would it be if it clicks in around the time a certain purple team comes over from Fort Worth?

My thought is that the issue this week was that it was a short week. The day skipped was the day reviewing the prior week's film. Because that was missed, the offense didn't have a chance to review their mistakes and learn from them. That is my working theory. We'll see what happens next week.

Not quite time to panic but it should definetly be something we are concerned with. we will need a strongs passing game to keep up with Houston, ECU, and Tulsa. And of course we will get run out of our own stadium against TCU if the offense does not play better.

Beat WSU.......Pony UP!

I don't think we should be really concerned yet.
