Bottom 10 List - Week 2

This weekend was full of strange results at the top and bottom, and a little bit of mixin' it up on both ends. The week includes the first team since Michigan a few years ago to go from Top 10 to Bottom 10 (much to the chagrin of Boise and BCS-buster fans everywhere), and the results of some hot Bottom-on-Bottom action.
Like all rankings, wildly fluctuating results are expected in the early goings of the season. Unlike most polls, we go by results, so nobody gets a false inflation nor an unfair exclusion.
1. New Mexico (0-2) L. Texas Tech 52-7
2. Colorado St. (0-2) L. Nevada 51-6
3. Akron (0-2) L. Gardner-Webb 38-37
4. Memphis (0-2) L. East Carolina 49-27
5. Western Kentucky (0-2) L. Kentucky 63-28
6. UNLV (0-2) L. Utah 38-10
7. UAB (0-2) L. SMU 28-7
8. San Jose St. (0-2) L. Wisconsin 27-14
9. Arkansas St. (0-2) L. Louisiana-Lafayette 31-24
10. Virginia Tech (0-2) L. James Madison 21-16
Watch List: North Texas (0-2), Bowling Green (0-2), Vanderbilt (0-2), UCLA (0-2), New Mexico St (0-1). Tulane (1-1). Washington St (1-1)

Sucks that two CUSA teams are there and on is waiting in the wings. A fourth of our conference in the cellar. The good news is we are not one of the cellar dwellers (anymore). The better news is we beat one cellar dweller and have one more waiting in the wings in our schedule.

What's really worse is the fact that we will be listed as the team that beat them twice.

That's the wing that is waiting.

Three of the top ten are from the MWC. That's 1/3 of that conference.

SJSU gets into the top 10 because they lost to the #1 team in the country and followed the next week with a respectable scoreline against another top 15 team?
Makes perfect sense...

Is it possible that SMU, maybe for the first time since the DP could put teams into the Bottom Ten two consecutive weeks?

I think he meant that Memphis was in the bottom 10 and waiting in the wings, not the ones waiting in the wings that are waiting in the wings.

I will speak for Ponyte. He meant that Tulane was waiting in the wings because first they are in CUSA which was his original reference and second, we play them this year, and third the are on the watch list, thus they are waiting in the wings. Now he may have meant something different but since we are friends and socialize on occasion I expect him to back me up on this regardless of his original intent.
