Short Snapper QuestionThis is just a curiosity thing, but is it typical for the snapper on field goals to be as small as ours is. Voosen has certainly done a good job and I am in no way making negative comments about him. I am just curious as to whether or not a 205 pound snapper is common.
Those who complain about a problem are simply wasting time they could use to fix it.
Potential is nothing, performance is everything.
Re: Short Snapper QuestionIn this case size does not matter. Speed and accuracy are. I believe there is a rule in place that forbids direct hit on him while his head is down and it only takes a very brief block. I do not see it as a factor in any way. Best is best regardless of size.
Ok. You can all choose each individual TWSS imbedded in my statement. All those who believe in psycho kinesis, raise my hand
Re: Short Snapper QuestionThe coaches have said he is dead on with his accuracy......he is a real talent but will get have to get bigger.

TWSS ![]() SMU's first president, Robert S. Hyer, selected Harvard Crimson and Yale Blue as SMU's colors to symbolize SMU's high academic standards. We are one of the few Universities to have school colors with real meaning...and we just blow them off.
Re: Short Snapper QuestionSam Bennett did the deep snapping and he couldn't even bench press 180 lbs so 205 lbs shouldn't matter.
Girls LOVE hearing about things like my car and my season tickets. I usually try to work in what street my parents live on, just so they know where I'm coming from. That's a deal closer. Always be closing!
Re: Short Snapper Questionumm......just wondering.... isn't this really a LONG snapper question? or, am I missing something?
Re: Short Snapper Question
i'm pretty sure he's contrasting this with the snapper used for punts (as opposed to FG's and XP's). It's not always the same guy. Derail the Frogs!

Re: Short Snapper Question
oh...okay. thanks.
Re: Short Snapper QuestionYour LS is a bit small. The point afters are handled by your center I think. You do have 2 walk on snappers , one is listed at 6'4 and 235 lbs the other is also over 6' and around 200 lb. Current snapper looks a bit slow and has had a few off snaps but has good speed down the field. Should be able to get the ball to the punter under .8 sec. Not to worry, you guys look like your OK . Did McKnight not snap in the NFL? SMU is turning into quite a fun team to follow
Re: Short Snapper QuestionThe last long snapper that JJ had in Hawaii was drafted by the Patriots and has started every game in the NFL since he left Hawaii. He entered UH as a walk-on DE, but JJ told him that his future was to be a long snapper and things sure worked out for Jake Ingram.
Re: Short Snapper QuestionJake is a great example of what a qualified staff can do for a kid. Securing the deep snapper will not be a problem for this team. Just a little beefing up is all it could take.
