Orsini's contract

We all breathed a collective sigh of relief when JJ signed his contract extension at the end of August but I have wondered where we are with Orsini. If this has been covered then oh well, but he came here in 2006 on a 5 year deal as I recall and I don't recall reading here or anywhere else that we have extended it. I have met the man on two occasions and think the world of him and hope he retires here. Has there been any news of a contract extension for Steve O? I assume it would have to come from Dr. Turner/Board of Trustees.

without The Mob Boss...June Jones is never the SMU head coach.
I agree pit bull Orsini is very important to us staying on the right path.
Orsini & June Jones are people you dont wanna mess with....they're winners.
i hope we sign Orsini to a ten year extension!
the man has to make lots of tough decisions
and when you do that...you [deleted] some people off
Orsini may not be the warmest/friendliest guy in the world..he's cordial
But who cares....he is getting the job done in the most important sport
and he just may can our current "problem" in basketball & get the job done there too.
My hat is off to the man...
Thanks Steve....you have made SMU football fun again!

Well Orsini said his goal was top 25 in EVERYTHING we do.........after all of the years he has been here, he has certainly not met his goal. Outside of mens soccer, which other programs are currently top 25.

I never said the man was perfect....who is?
From what I hear Turner stopped Orsini from firing DoughBoy last year.
Orsini hired June Jones...how has that worked out Bozo?
If you don't like Orisni who do you suggest we hire?

Steve Orsini is, unquestionably, vital to the continued success of SMU Athletics. I have been involved with SMU for too many years to count, and I am firmly of the opinion that he is the best, and most effective, A.D. that we've had. Orsini brought us June Jones...can you put into perspective what an astounding feat that was?...and he is creating a culture of winning, and championships, on the Hilltop. In addition, he is The Man when it comes to being in the room during the on-going conference realignment discussions.

He is in the last year of his contract, and it needs to be renewed, sooner rather than later. He has laid it on the line for the Program, time and again, and he loves SMU. He is an incredibly valuable asset, and we absolutely must keep him.

I agree that losing Steve would be terrible and we need to lock him up very soon. Hiring June Jones literally saved SMU football. Honeslty I don't want to think about what might have happened if June didn't come here. Maybe I'm a debbie downer but if we'd have hired Larry Coker or some retread like that I think we'd have had two or three more 3-9 seasons and attendance would be even worse than it is now. At that point you have to seriously consider the merits of keeping the product going. As it is, the program is in the best shape its been in 25 years, money is starting to pour in, we have NFL caliber coaches, we are recruiting legitimate D1 level athletes, and the buzz around the program is really picking up steam. If we can put together a 9 or 10 win season combined w/ a CUSA title....WATCH OUT.

All of this is b/c Steve Orsini was able to convince June Jones to come here.
